[The farm armored figure continues to move as if on the fucking wind itself as he rushes over the next rooftop and across another, desperate to put more distance between himself and his pursuit to give himself the space he needs to make sure they never realize the error of their ways. He can hear them back there, yelling to each other even if he pays no heed to their words. They’re unimportant to him so why should he pay attention to anything they have to say or how they say it? He can hear the clatter of their feet as they land on thee roof behind him too, faster than he gave them credit for but he keeps running; the edge of this one coming up fast on him and across the last loomed the unfinished skeleton of a future giant of a building.
Then a new sound broke through the air. One he hadn’t heard before and paid no mind to but he should have, oh how he should have, as the strange almost whistle of the air caught up fair faster than the criminal dubbed Smile could have realized while he leap from the next ledge.
A sharp, piercing pain slashed through his left thigh as the wickedly sharp spear sliced along it, as if the armor wasn’t even there, and left a bleeding gash as it embedded itself into the roof several feet further away. He balance thrown and pain screaming through his leg, Smile had no choice but to take his landing hard as crashed and rolled several times.
The man growled in outrage to himself. He should have been faster, should have been more aware. He wasn’t though. He was exhausted and worn out from unending fights and this was turning into one of the hardest battles yet as he pulled himself back to his feet to try and keep as much distance as he could still.
Briefly the thought of going fit the spear and chucking it over the side of the building came to his mind but it was too far out of his reach that he would have to waste valuable time on the task. Time he did not have the luxury to waste as he stood and his thigh screamed in protest, rivets of crimson blood already oozing from the slice in his armor and staining his leg and the ground he’d tumbled upon.
Teeth grit begins the strobing light of his mask, he pushed the pain away, told himself to ignore it as he fled to keep as much of his lead as he could though his pace had slowed significantly compared to moments ago. He was still moving fast, still moving period but he wasn’t covering ground in heartbeats any longer.]
