If they'd at least explained it, that would've helped too, honestly. Though I guess I can see why they'd be so distant about it - if they're seeing bad or super personal stuff pretty regularly, it might be safer for them to detach themselves from it.

[If they got invested in every bit of trauma they saw, if people are going through that judgement in large numbers, he can only imagine how damaging that might be. He doesn't know the reasoning for the judgement being done in the first place, but if it's some kind of necessity or even some kind of strongly-held tradition, those doing the judging would need to protect themselves from that possibility in some way, he thinks.
