( there's nothing to do but search, it seems. he's not getting any other instructions, and by word of the other mer-people, here, it seems that he is the one who organized this outing. somehow. without having even been here in the first place.
it must just be something written into the story--the story, which he doesn't understand at all.
the part of the ship that he's in now seems to have been, at one time, some sort of bedchamber, a room where maybe a few different people could have slept; there's the remains of a bed frame, shattered into wooden pieces, and a large trunk that's slid across the broken wooden floor, half-hanging into a wide opening that could likely be explored to see more of the ship beneath it. if anything is going to have that gizmo thing in it, then he thinks it might be that--but there's a lock at the front of it, something that his underwater hands can't seem to grapple with. maybe a rock, then, to smash it open?
but the sound of that familiar voice startles him. his shoulders lift, jerking at the trunk--it wobbles, on the precipice of falling right down through the hole it leans into, and as he turns, the flap of his fins seem to push it right over the edge, sliding with a large thunk that wedges it further into the broken floorboards. it doesn't matter to him. what matters is bakugou, here, or--well, it has to be bakugou, right? who else could it be, with those eyes, that hair, that demanding voice? )
Kidnapped? ( he repeats it slowly--his gaze moves over bakugou's face, down his chest, before abruptly moving back up to his eyes. ) Is that what this is?
( his arms fold in against his bare chest, like he's considering. honestly, he can't remember much beyond what happened back home, and the strange flicker of his memories from arrival hadn't been right, either. but if bakugou is saying it, then maybe he knows something more. something he hasn't discovered, yet. )
...You're a fish. ( it tumbles out, matter-of-fact. as though he isn't also half-fish, here. ) Like...that movie. The... Tiny Mermaid. Something like that.
