"Hm, well - where I'm from it's not exactly unknown, but it usually happens when you're a kid if you don't start out that way...or someone changes you on purpose and it's harder to miss...?" Basically he doesn't think that this is something that would happen randomly at home, although he's yet to discover just how far away "home" is compared to where he is now. That isn't stopping Izuku from beginning to cut through the water to go towards the city on the island he can just about make out.

The lots of questions thing is very, very mutual. But right now the priority is getting this guy to safety! Speaking of... "I'm Izuku Midoriya, what's your name? Er, if you don't mind telling me, that is." He is a stranger, but Izuku is a very nice stranger in that he's just kind of friendly and helpful. He only gets unpleasant in very specific combat-related circumstances as a rule of thumb.
